Deal of the Month: March

For the March Deal of the Month we have selected for you two wines from two different parts of Le Marche Region. The white Veronica is from Cantina Le Caniette near Ascoli Piceno, in the south part of the region, while the red Aion is from Cantina Moroder near Ancona, in the central part of Le Marche but close to the coast.
This two part of the region are both very well know for their tradition in wine making which is dated back of centuries until the Roman period, and for some particular and very local variety like Rosso Conero from Ancona and Pecorino from Ascoli. This are the two variety of wines we selected for you this month.

The white Veronica is 100% from organic Pecorino grapes grown on a vineyard between 300 and 400 meters above the see level and on a slightly chalky soil. The grapes are hand picked and stored at 0 degrees immediately after the harvest for a period between 5 and 10 days. After selection the grapes are soft pressed in total absence of oxygen and then yeasts are added to start the fermentation process at 15 degrees for 30 days. The wine spends up to 3 month in steel to complete the aging process before being bottled. The colour is straw yellow with an intense and fruity aroma. Perfect with poultry and fish but also with mild and fresh cheeses. As all the wines from Le Caniette, Veronica is a fully certified organic wine.

Come tutti i vini de Le Caniette, Veronica è certificato e riconosciuto come vino biologico.

The red we selected for you is Aion from the Cantina Moroder near Ancona, a Rosso Conero tipical of this area of Le Marche region. The wine is a blend of Montepulciano 85% and Sangiovese 15% with the vineyards at 1 km from the see on the hills around the Monte Conero on a sandy and chalky soil. grapes are hand picked and immediately pressed to start the fermentation process. The wine spends 12 month in steel and another 3 months in bottle before being ready. The result is an intense red ruby color with and aroma of fruits and flowers like plums and violets. It goes very well with cured meat typical of this area like Ciauscolo and Salame Fabriano, but also with game and red meats. It is also perfect with lasagne and tagliatelle bolognese.
