Deal of the Month: April

Thanks to the great success it has during the last month promotion we decided to keep the white Veronica on promotion this month too and to match it with the red Moroder.
Both wines are organic and comes from two wineries one in the south and one in the center of Le Marche region of Italy. The white Veronica is from Cantina Le Caniette near Ascoli Piceno, in the south part of the region, while the red Aion is fromCantina Moroder near Ancona, in the central part of Le Marche but close to the coast. This two part of the region are both very well know for their tradition in wine making which is dated back of centuries until the Roman period, and for some particular and very local variety like Rosso Conero from Ancona and Pecorino from Ascoli.

The Rosso Conero Moroder is made of 100% Montepulciano with the vineyards growing at 1km from the coast at 250 meters above the sea level on a soil rich of clay and limestone within the Natural Park Reserve of Conero. The wine making process starts with 8/10 days of maceration and low fermentation and after that the wine is aged up to 24 months in barrels and then 6 months in bottle before being ready. The result is a rich and intense wine, dark ruby color, very persistent and tasting of red fruits as cherries and delicate violets. It goes perfectly with bolognese and wild game but also medium cheeses.

The white Veronica is 100% from Pecorino grapes grown on a vineyard between 300 and 400 meters above the see level and on a slightly chalky soil. The grapes are hand picked and stored at 0 degrees immediately after the harvest for a period between 5 and 10 days. After selection the grapes are soft pressed in total absence of oxygen and then yeasts are added to start the fermentation process at 15 degrees for 30 days. The wine spends up to 3 month in steel to complete the aging process before being bottled. The colour is straw yellow with an intense and fruity aroma. Perfect with poultry and fish but also with mild and fresh cheeses. As all the wines from Le Caniette, Veronica is a fully certified organic wine.

Come tutti i vini de Le Caniette, Veronica è certificato e riconosciuto come vino biologico.
